2026 HBFD Chiefs & Commissioners

The Hampton Bays Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners conducted its Annual Organizational Meeting on January 5, 2026. During the meeting, the Department's Fire Chiefs for 2026 were officially sworn into their positions.

Don Downs was appointed as Chief of Department, with support from 1st Assistant Chief Louis Stellato, 2nd Assistant Chief Chris Collins, and Jon Stanton, who joins the leadership team as 3rd Assistant Chief for the first time.

Other officials sworn in for the new term include Chairman of the Board Commissioner Rob King, newly elected Commissioner James Kappers, Treasurer Christine Kenny, and Secretary David VanScoy Sr.
